India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.

I'm really surprised Taj Mahal only has 3.5 stars. We love this place. The owners are so friendly and attentive to each customer. Its a small very clean dining atmosphere nothing fancy but very comfortable... though out of the way location in the strip mall it hides in. The food is always delicious...so rich in the fresh spices of India. You can definitely tell everything is home made with pride. We always enjoy the personal experience shared with the owners. Please try them...you will love it!

Love this place... I order the Kofta Curry, Vegetable Biryani, and the Aloo Tikki each time... all very good!

Third time eating here, love the food!!!!! I'm big on their sauces omg!!!! Amazing , if u get spicy it's super spicy if u going with kids get mild. Never tried buffet, it looks ok , rather order by plate. Staff is very friendly and helpful!!! Wonderful every time

I've been dining at Taj Mahal for 10 years now. Obviously, I absolutely love this place. I typically get the buffet because I always want a little bit of everything. The buffet has a great selection for a terrific price. The flavors are simply outstanding. You also get naan with the buffet and it's always fresh and hot out of the oven. The staff is phenomenal. Friendly, welcoming, and helpful with assisting you pick out your foods if you're new to Indian cuisine. The environment itself is clean and spacious although you have to keep your eye out as the location is tucked back behind iHop in the strip mall. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Food is amazing and the customer service it top notch. Canot wait to come again Food was very authentic tasting and there is lots to choose from.

Went here for lunch with my coworkers today and had the buffet. It was awesome!!! Great variety, very low cost (twelve dollars), great service, very clean. DEFINITELY going back again, soon!! The only thing I'm sad about is not trying the dessert:( just gives me an excuse to go back! Oh yeah, and the naan is freshly baked daily. Very delicious!

I have been coming to Taj Mahal for over a year now and every time I go the food and the service keeps getting better and better! The owners are so accommodating and this restaurant is unlike most restaurants of Orland park, it being a family owned and operated business. Keep up the good work and I will be coming back over and over again!

I have decided to restrict my reviews to places I am impressed with overall. My wife and I have dined at many places that received rave reviews here on Yelp that we thought were only worth 1-2 stars. However, I understand being in business and many of these people are honest and just trying to make it. I am not going take part in ruining their livelihood because I did not care for my meal. Here on the south side we live in a virtual desert when it comes to ethnic cuisines. A handful of restaurants dot a very broad section of our area so we have to travel quite a distance when we would like to experience the tastes of other cultures. Taj Mahal did not disappoint. We had the option of going with the dinner buffet ($17.99) or ordering a la carte, and we chose the latter; (Yo Daddy wan'ned to holla at da buffet, but since my better half wanted to be able to take home leftovers....a la carte it was!!) We began with Samosas (2), which were huge and plain naan. For entrees we ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Tiki Marsala and a half order of Tandoori Chicken. Everything was delicious. As a pre-appetizer guests receive three or four lentil based crackers accompanied by a green spicy and brown sweet sauce. I enjoyed dipping the naan in the sweet sauce while eating the entrees. The service was warm and inviting. The restaurant is small but cozy and difficult to find (next door and to the rear of Red Lobster on LaGrange Rd.). That aside, Taj Mahal is a winner.

Dined here with some good friends tonight, it being our collective first foray into Indian cuisine. We all left very happy and satisfied, especially having overturned this new leaf in our palates. I'm a big tea fan, and can confirm that their Masala Chai really hit the spot; I definitely plan on getting some this winter, as it's the kind of stuff that would really stay with ya in a cold snap. Ditto for the Beef Vindaloo, it was robustly flavorful and perfectly picant, tasting it was a joy. Bravo to the chef! Everything was paralleled with some amazingly fresh naan and rice that left us feeling great. I also have to give props to the gentleman who took care of us, the service was amazing. He even offered to fill our water glasses well after we had settled up the bill. That's a first for me! Felt right at home. I will definitely be back!

This restaurant has horrible service. The restaurant closes at 9pm. The owner asked if we could leave at 9:05pm his exact words were, "we have lives too". What kind of business are they running? The food was hideous. They were very rude and totally racist! I have never and I never will again.

Went for the lunch buffet. For the price ($9.95), had to try it. First impression, not a huge selection, but they had a mini salad bar (red onion, cucumbers, 4 different sauces, and fennel chips). Here is a sample of what they had in their buffet selection: Pakora (vegetable)-like a veggie fritter. Was cold. Steamed Basmati Rice Beef Vindaloo (beef cubes & potatoes in curry)-really good. Saag Paneer (cheese cubes in spinach sauce)-very bland, no taste. Baigan Bhurta (Eggplant and spices, mashed)-my other favorite. Shredded chicken tandoori (red chicken)-just so so. Had better chicken elsewhere. Kheer (rice pudding)-the only dessert they had, but oh so good. It would be wise to note that they do not have lamb or Chicken Tandoori at lunch special, only dinner ($16.95). They also give you a serving of Naan bread in a basket at your table. Fresh and tasty, straight from the oven. Overall, a great choice for Vegetarians, groups of 2-4, and those who are just new to Indian food and would like to expand their palate. Great atmosphere, a tad bit small for the dining area, but comfy. Right when you leave, they have a small platter of fennel seed candy and a bowl of spearmints.

Bought a groupon for this local joint and have been going back ever since. The owners are friendly and willing to share their recommendations. Food is great- I have ordered off the menu and from the buffet and have always enjoyed it!
(4)Sam Y.
I had this crazy craving for samosa like the ones they make on Devon ave in Chicago, unfortunately these samosa were tasteless, the crust was good but the stuffing was what tasted like boiled beef, absolutely no spices. When you think Indian/Pakistani cuisine you think of SPICE and an explosion of flavor. I haven't tried anything else on the menu maybe one day I will, but I was really disappointed with the samosa :( I drove 10 miles for these samosas and they didn't meet my taste buds needs :/
(1)Susan S.
Excellent Indian food with friendly owners...nice lunch buffet...looking to expand to a full bar and an addition.
(5)Anita L.
Let me just start by saying, I absolutely love Indian food, its a regular in my house. I know authentic Indian cuisine when I taste it. To start, the food visually looked boring. I tried it and yes, just as I thought, very bland to say the least. Indian food is flavorful and aromatic, not the Tandoori dish I had. I was so disappointing, I didn't do my homework on this place, traveled so far for bad food. However, I'm with my friend, nasty food, I'll eat when at home, no big deal. Oh no but there is more, the lack of SERVICE! The owner says to my friend, we need to swipe your card no later than 9:15 pm, the system will shut down. My friend quickly gave them her card, but as soon as they completed the transaction, complete personality change. They started spraying the tables down with a milky white substance (look like a insect repellent container, not joking) and clearing the tables, then the wife, clapped her hands and said, " were closing! " Keep in mind, we were preparing to leave any how, gotta work the next day. Both of them aggressively removing items from out table the table reaching over us as if we weren't there! The husband, raised his voice at my friend and complained about her calling his establishment 5 X's, and? I stood in disbelieve, how does a place like this stay in business? The food, really not kidding, awful and BAD SERVICE! BOTH of the owners told us not to come back (as if we would, really?), we told them we would share this awful experience on Yelp, the husband said, he didn't care, I believe him. PLEASE BEWARE! If you see a good review on this place, I promise you, its a LIE! Impossible, I cook Indian food better than this place. The food was, dry and bland, not to mention, the chutney, a joke, it had a nasty gritty minty mush consistency to it. I could go on and on about this this place. Tah Mahal doesn't even deserve a 1 star, it should be rated NO STAR. Again beware, TERRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE. There are sooooo many Indian restaurants that provide good tasting food and service, jut not this place. Well, that's my two cents, hope I can save the next person.
(1)Yvonne I.
I went for the lunch buffet on a weekday. I was in the area during the workday, and I figured the buffet would offer a good opportunity to try some of their foods within a short period of time. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing I tried was really good either. I think that one day I should try one of their dishes straight from the menu, or try the dinner buffet. The service was excellent and the restaurant appeared clean and tidy. Taj Mahal is currently on the bottom of my Chicagoland Indian restaurant list, but maybe a second visit will change that.
(4)Christine S.
Our family recently moved to Orland Park from Sylvania, Ohio. We were quite spoiled with the selection of Indian restaurants that were located in the Toledo area...We were SO relieved that we found some Indian cuisine in our new home town! As you may know, not all Indian cuisine is the same...but we have been so incredibly happy with Taj Mahal. It is family owned, and the owners are so extremely friendly. The food is fresh and delicious. If you are new to Indian cuisine, I highly recommend the Chicken Curry (mild if you are a newbie), and their delicious Samosas.
(5)Jennifer M.
Great staff, really enjoyed the panang curry. I plan on stopping for lunch whenever I'm in the area.
(4)Kristen R.
There are not many Indian places in the area and I'm so glad this one exists. The people were super nice and genuine. Samosas were awesome!!! I got chicken curry and my husband got a beef potato curry- both were good. Rice was decent, garlic naan was good too- thinner than others I've had but not bad. I will come back again.
(4)Laura L.
yum, yum. not very busy, which was sad for them, but delicious and very affordable. break out of the comfort zone and get some suburban indian delight!
(4)Lizabeth U.
I love Indian food, but by no means do I consider myself an expert. I've tried several different restaurants in various cities; and since I was visiting the Chicago area, I figured I'd try this place. I went for the lunch buffet and arrived fairly late - about two in the afternoon. There was only one other group of people there, since they stop serving lunch at two thirty. Despite how soon it was to closing, I received excellent service. The waiter - sorry, I don't remember his name - was very attentive and polite. The food was good and certainly satisfied a craving. The butter chicken was a neon red color but had excellent flavor. There were a few things here an there I noticed where corners were cut - the saag paneer didn't actually have paneer cheese in it, for example - but for about ten dollars I thought it hit the spot. I'd certainly go again if I was in the area.

Thank Annapurna (the Hindu goddess of food) for this restaurant! For several years now it has offered Indian cuisine to the southern suburbs. We usually just order from the buffet. We have never been disappointed. The buffer is north Indian standard - appetizers papadum, salad, pakora. They make their own achar (pickle), a small point but one I appreciate. Vegetarian entrees dal makhani, baigan bharta, saag paneer, also non-vegetarian lamb and chicken entrees: saag gosht and chicken (murg) makhani. The mango lassi and chai here are very good. The decor is nice and lighting is soft and pleasant. The walls have the Mughal prints you expect in a north India restaurant. The bathrooms are clean. A small beef I have with waitstaff is that they very infrequently visit your table to check in on you. I generally have to get up and walk over to the main cash register and ask for my check before they will ever bring it. They are always good about bringing chai, though. They also frequently bring fresh naan (bread). This restaurant is very close to Orland Square Mall. We frequently go here before a movie. We were mortified when this restaurant closed for a brief time a couple years back, but they re-opened and now is packed every weekend that we visit. Please visit it so that we can continue to get Indian without traveling into Chicago or Indiana for it!
(5)Mike D.
This is my favorite Indian restaurant, by far. The staff makes you feel welcome and the food is excellent. I would reccomend the buffet if you are new to Indian/Pakistani food, they really lay out a spread with a variety of tasty choices. Their lassi is also excellent.
(5)Ben T.
I ordered out from here and I thought it was good, but kind of pricey. I think next time I would like to dine in and try their buffet. I ordered a vegetable dish and had to pay extra for rice and naan, but the service was very friendly and the food was tasty and filling, although I would have liked more sauce.

We tried out their lunch buffet today and I was so disappointed. We had ordered catering from this restaurant last month and the tandoori chicken was so yummy (better than some places on devon) and the naan was so good too, so I was really looking forward to lunch here. First, when I walked in and saw that the $9.50 buffet does not include tandoori chicken, I was floored...how can they charge $1 a piece for the chicken? I grew up in the chicago area and have been going to indian restaurants since childhood and have never seen this before... The first thing i tried was the pakora (the server just brought out some fresh ones)...i took a bite and it was cold...that grossed me out (i had to spit it out in a napkin)...the curries that were out were bland and lukewarm, I didnt feel comfortable eating the food because it wasnt properly heated. I was excited to at least try the yummy tandoori chicken that we shelled out extra bucks for (promised to be served sizzling)...but it definitely wasnt sizzling when we got it and I also felt the chicken's temp was not warm enough...plus it wasnt as flavorful as the catered chicken we got from them. The one good thing was the naan, it was hot and fresh and I ended up eating plain naan for most of my meal...but $10.50 for just eating that naan was a little upsetting. There were many people who came in for pick up orders, so I think that this place might be better for carry out...dont come for the buffet!
(1)Nicole S.
We didn't even get a chance to taste the food. We walked into the restaurant and stood awhile, waiting for someone to direct us to our table. A server passed by us with food while saying "you can sit where ever you want." We sat down and no one tended to us - we didn't even get a glass of WATER! Another family walked in and they were seated immediately. The server provided them with water and began taking their orders. As soon as we saw that, my family and I exited the restaurant. No one came after us or even tried to convince us to stay.
(1)Mister B.
This is a briliant little family owned place. Service is great, food is delicious, and the owner is very attentive to any of your needs! A real trasure!
(5)Angelique I.
This place is top notch for Indian food, can't believe it's so good for the location. I always get the buffet, have had both lunch and dinner, and probably tried everything each time and nothing has disappointed. Some selections are standard every time but others change up so there's plenty of variety. The service is friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back!
(5)Candace M.
This is an okay restaurant for Indian cuisine. It's small but the service is nice and the food is good. I did enjoy the chicken tandoori, the vegetables and the vegetable samosas. I went for dinner recently and what I did like is that the buffet is offered for dinner and not just lunch. That alone will definitely have me come back for more.
(3)Jean S.
I dream about this buffet. Great service and every dish a delight, though i did not for some reason enjoy the tandoori chicken off of the menu. Don't forget to try the indian tea. A hidden gem.
(5)Jamie L.
Yum! My good friend and I braved the cold and snow on a Friday night (we were only 1 of 3 tables in there!). They have a buffet they offer for $16 I think? but I am not a buffet person, so we ordered off the menu. I had shrimp curry (so good!) and my friend had a grilled chicken and vegetables dish - we shared and both did not disappoint. They bring you bread with some sauces too that are very good. I willl be back!
(5)Danusia H.
This small storefront restaurant isn't big on atmosphere but the food is delicious and the service is gracious. I have walked up to the front door a half and hour before it opens on more than one occasion and the proprietor has opened the door and allowed us in. I am not suggesting you do the same and I didn't do it on purpose but I was on break from work and would have gone someplace else but the manager was kind enough to allow us to order. The buffet has many vegetarian options, perfect for me, and has both spicy and not so spicy choices. I ADORE the warm carrot pudding for dessert and my favorite dish has to be the Chana Masala. The naan and crispy flat bread they bring to the table is outstanding. Prices are comparable to other restaurants of this type. Please give them a try but note their hours of operation.
(4)Tina B.
Good, fairly standard northern Indian fare (sadly no dosas) with really, super nice and attentive service. Nothing here I would get a specific craving for, but I would eat here again in a second if I wanted Indian food and I was in the south suburbs. I had the lunch buffet and was a little disappointed that several of the pots were labeled, but empty - and they hadn't run out, because we'd been one of the very first, of only a few, groups in there. An almond rice pudding was delicious and, even though I didn't try any, they offer pieces of tandori chicken at $1 per piece in addition t the buffet. Nice, but simple interior. They let my 1-year old eat with no charge and no issues, which is amazingly an issue with some buffet places. Lunch for two ran about $30 with tax and tip and for only two buffets and two drinks, which doesn't in any way qualify as a "lunch special."

We thought we would try an Indian Restaurant closer to home rather than driving up to Devon Ave. BIG MISTAKE! When we walked in we were not immediately greeted. Once we were greeted, we were given the option of ordering off their limited menu or having their buffet for $16.50 per person. We took a look at the buffet and the food looked like it had been sitting out for hours and the choices were limited. This was at 7:00 PM. in the evening. My husband decided that he would take the buffet and I would order off the menu. He has gone to a lot of Indian Buffets up on Devon so he is very well versed in Indian Cuisine, plus he is an accomplished cook himself. He said that the food off the buffet was very bland and not seasoned as far as spices go. He usually always goes back for seconds, but this time once was enough. I ordered the Saag Paneer and it was very bland and the Paneer Cheese was very hard at the corners and tasted like it had been sitting somewhere forever. I ordered Samosas as well and they were stiff and looked like they had come out of a frozen entree box. They were tasteless. I also order an appetizer of the onion pakora and it was stiff and tasted like it had come out of a TV Dinner. The Tamarind Sauce was terrible. The service was nonexistent. Needless to say, we will never be back. In short, Devon Ave is worth the drive if you are seeking true Indian Cuisine.

My daughter & I went last week. I had a BOGO coupon from the Entertainment book, and had never tried Indian food before. We got there right as they opened. We ordered 3 entrees & did a "family style". The Chicken Jalfraize and Chicken Tikka Masala were just amazing, but the Chicken Curry was our favorite. The mail server (possibly an owner?) was abrupt with little personality, but was prompt enough with service. He kept trying to steer us towards the buffet (which the reviews are great, but we don't care for buffets- although the presentation was beautiful). All told, a great meal- and I just have to talk my husband into going...
(5)Rena K.
How much do I love tasty Indian food from an impeccably clean establishment with great service? A LOT!!! This place has consistently great food. The atmosphere is really relaxing and low-key. If you don't have the time or don't feel like dining in I suggest that you order carry out (i have done this many times). Great nan bread (the flat bread made in house and you can see them make it through the window where you can see the kitchen). That is another thing I love about this place. You can tell that it is clean because there is a huge window where you can see them make some of the food. And the buffet is excellent. I have been going here for a couple of years and always get the buffet. And cheesy nan bread if it is a good day. And if I'm in the mood, we order tandouri chicken (smoky and delicious!) GO HERE!!!!
(5)Jesse G.
I'm no connoisseur of Indian/Pakistani food, but I got a chance to check this place out a couple weeks ago at lunch and I'll be a frequent guest from now on. It's a quaint little space tucked in a strip mall behind Dania, so it tends to get lost in the shuffle. The people there are really friendly and answered all my beginner questions, and I never felt intimidated by the different menu. There is a fairly large assortment of dishes, including plenty of vegetarian options, and everything I sampled was great -- just enough spice to give it a savory kick, but nothing that was too strong for my palate. They offer take out and dine in, with lunch buffet for $9 and dinner for $16. I haven't tried the buffet, but it's a nice option if you're unsure on what to get and want to try a few different things. Orland Park lacks a lot of truly good ethnic restaurants, but I'm happy to report Taj Mahal is top notch.
(4)Renad J.
The owners are so courteous and accommodating. Service was quick. I enjoyed the samosas and the Lamb Vindaloo, as well as the tasty dipping sauces. The Karahi Gosht and the Lamb biriyani weren't my favorite, but decent. The garlic naan is delicious, but only worth having fresh. Unfortunately it is not always served that way. If you can't head to Devon (where my favorite Indian restaurants are), this is a nice, quaint place for good Indian food in Orland Park.
(3)Dave S.
I am just not fan of Indian food. If it is a choice of eating Indian food or starving to death, I would eat it out of necessity. Now this place - It still did not make me a fan of the cuisine but It opened my eyes that there is good Indian cuisine out there and to never give up hope. The food - EVERYTHING on the buffet was good and it tasted very freshly prepared as if I ordered an entree for myself. The service - There was the owner and his son-in=law working. They were both friendly and helpful and you can tell they both took great pride in their restaurant. They really should take a lot of pride in their restaurant because. It reall too a great effort to impress an Indian cuisine critic like me
(4)Omniah E.
I went for dinner and i ordered chicken makhani or butter chicken and i really don't know how they consider this to be butter chicken. I love butter chicken but what i ordered tastes really bad!
(1)Michael S.
Being vegan has its ups and downs. One of the bad things is being able to go out and find food to eat. Even if you go and try to order salad they usually have cheese or chicken... and I just don't want to pay for food that they are removing for me. With Taj Mahal I can tell you that this is not Devon. It's slightly more expensive than places on Devon and while good, not as good as some places in the city. That being said I still think this place is good enough for 4 stars. Food from the buffet was pretty good and I did like how they had quite a few selections that I could actually eat. I even took some saag paneer and just removed the cheese. No biggie. It did taste a little strange though from other places I've had the dish. Everything else though was excellent. Service was pretty good as it didn't take long to fill our waters. Overall, I am quite pleased with the experience and I will be back if I crave Indian cuisine and don't want to travel into the city.
(4)Reggie V.
The food here is always good quality and at a solid price. The owners are always very friendly to us and if you want some good food, get the beef vanadloo.
(5)Liz V.
I'm very careful about buffets....honestly I don't go to them but Taj Mahal is clean, the food is fresh and delicious, and everyone is friendly and informative. Love this place!
(5)Eric N.
Great Food!!! Had the Mattar Paneer and Chicken Masala and they were incredible!!! I can't wait to go again!
(5)Mia L.
Once you walk in, the smell of SPICE hits you. Yum! We came hungry and this place totally hit the spot. We saw a small section of the back wall also known as the buffet. It looked tiny, having little to choose from. It was about $16 something for buffet dinner. We skipped that and ordered entrees instead. To start, we got the aloo tikki. It was this crispy bread thing made with spices. Idk exactly what was in this concoction, but it was made to perfection. It also came with two sauces to complement...a green one with a hint of heat and a sweet brown one with a lemony zest. Yeap..it was real. So for the entrees we got the chicken tikka masala and seekh kabob. The chicken tikka masala was cubed chicken in this creamy tomato sauce. Amazing! I looooved it. I was kind of hesitant about ordering it at first because I didn't feel like having tomato sauce, but our server recommended it and I was glad he did! I didn't taste the tomato, it didn't have that heavy tomato paste/sauce taste, and it was spiced perfectly! The seeskh kabobs were kind of dry but very flavorful with seasonings. It was served sizzling on a hot skillet with sliced onions and green peppers. We also ordered white rice for the masala and yogurt for the seeskh kabobs. Our servers were super nice and polite. Overall, we enjoyed the experience, and our tummies left happy and satisfied!
(4)Erik W.
Their buffet is excellent. The single dishes, however, are even better. Try the kadhai gosht.
(5)Arsalan K.
This was perhaps the worst indian buffet I have ever been to. Definitely not worth the money. All the chicken had a strong red hue of food coloring and tasted like it was a couple of days old.
(1)Kevin C.
Oh my god this place is delicious. I've been craving Indian food and spotted this place just the night before. I was quick and simple: naan and lamb vindaloo. The naan was warm and soft and there was plenty of it. The lamb was incredible. Perfectly cooked with tons of flavor. The rest of the vindaloo was awesome. The guy who took my order did ask about spiciness, which is fantastic, because I hate losing the spicy tastes vindaloo has to offer :D The decor isn't something to write home about, but it's always about the food and this place rocked it. I'll be back real soon.
(5)Taha R.
They are zabihah halal for those who are wondering. The food is pretty impressive. The first time my brother and I went here, we went for the buffet. It was really good variety. But knowing later that it cost $19 per person really turned us off. Later we got a groupon and decided to go back and had a very nice meal. Didn't go for the appetizer but went for entree. They were delicious. It was a great experience. The reason I give 4 stars is for the overpriced buffet and the atmosphere is very plain. But every thing else ive tried so far has been great!
(4)Candace M.
Bought a Groupon, which Groupon refunded thank God. Tried to use it on June 20th, said needed a reservation, tried to make it for 830, they close at 9, he said they start closing at 845 & that wouldn't work. Ok you are open till 9pm??? That means I should be able to walk in there at 855! BAD business, I don't care if the food is good bad otherwise. I said I was going to leave a bad Yelp review & he said "go ahead"!!
(1)Tamara M.
I never knew this place existed until a friend brought me here, I am surprised that its actually good. I'm not sure what the name of the dishes were because we ate the lunch buffet menu but all I can say was that if was good enough to make me go back for seconds. I will be back and this time I will get the name of the dishes
(5)Dina G.
We went mid-week for lunch, and I selected the buffet while my husband had the chicken korma. He loved his meal and compared it favorably with other Indian restaurants in the greater Chicago area (he always gets the same dish). I had the lunch buffet and I loved all the dishes and options, especially the veg dish choices and mango chutney which I don't see everywhere. It's been a couple weeks and we're both craving going back as soon as possible. The place was clean, atmosphere was pleasant and it was neither empty nor too crowded. Overall, a staple in our future lunch routine.

I've been going to Taj Mahal for several years, and could have swore I wrote a previous stellar review of this place. I went tonight for dinner with my Groupon. Service was not good. The owner/waiter didn't speak a word, just kind of grunted. Didn't check on me, didn't refil my water. I was still eating and he took my plate away and brought me containers to pack up my leftovers - it was very strange. The food was decent tonight and the portions large. The garlic naan is awesome as is the saag paneer. The buffet was small before, but now it is even smaller. There were only 4 food items and naan on the buffet - - who would want to pay $16.95 for that? Check out Kitchen of India in Oak Forest for their buffet - their sauces are better also! Used to love this place when it was BYOB and service was good, not so much anymore.

This review is for 11-09-2013 Note: I am unsure about the past patrons, and some negative reviews, but don't see what they may have when they came in, as I was not there, but figure I leave a more in depth, what to expect if new to Taj Mahal. My Lady and I went out for an autumn walk on this day and were out and about being adventurous and exploring. As the day was getting later we were trying to decide where to eat, I had mixed ideas, then saw Taj Mahal so we decided we both love Indian Mediterranean style food, so we decided to stop in and try a new place to eat. Atmosphere: When you walk in, it is for casual or dressy in my opinion. Example on dress, as most curious and unsure, We both were wearing casual jeans(not tatters and unappropriate), she was wearing her Nightmare Before Christmas (Jack) sweatshirt and I a shirt representing The Alley Chicago(a store). The Owner I believe he was, just by how he took care of his patrons, greeted us upon coming in. I like that because that tells me he and his staff are alert to people coming into his restaurant. Right away upon coming in, he had a table for us. He found out we were new to Taj Mahal and right away instead of having us not sure what to order on a menu, he recommended that we try the buffet, and this is always a good idea so you can get a sample of all their main dishes they have to offer. I will point out that when we sat and ate, the waiter noticed our attire and made conversation(a good thing, and a very good way to welcome your guests /patrons, to a restaurant. The service to us was excellent, the beverages I can tell from other patrons there was beer, possible wine(not sure 100%) they had a variety of beverages, we preferred to have a glass of water with lemon in it though. The waiter from time to time refilled our water, made sure to ask how everything was and I got to say, we don't always get this at all restaurants, so I can say it was great. I will point out though, it was not as busy when we went from other times when they may be busy, so take that into consideration when you dine in and service may be slow. We had seen when entering three tables, upon leaving including selves maybe 4 to 5 as I can remember. So not busy in my opinion. We definitely recommend Taj Mahal, and if we are ever back in the area, we will come back as well. Buffet: The buffet itself had an excellent display of selections of each type of dish. It was explained what each dish was, as well if you have an allergy make sure to ask, and they will tell you. (in my book, a good thing to do at a restaurant) We personally sampled everything on the buffet, so we can get a feel for what we liked. I will now post the different dishes as I can try and remember what we tried. Appetizers: Samosa, Aaloo(first time trying in this type of restaurant, and loved them). Note: the Spicy Chicken wings I have never had, but here they are great, I asked about them and will try them next time, they make them with a certain heat, but if asked when ordering they can make them spicier. The other types of dishes: indian bread(in particular to the Tandoori Roti, Steamed Basmati Rice, Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Tikka, and various other I cannot remember to be honest, but all excellent dishes in opinion. Dessert: We both tried the Gulab Jamun, (resembles a munchkin form dunkin donuts, but I assure different and in opinion to die for) Note: I will mention they have a business / homemade hot sauce which was referred to us by the waiter. I made comment on spiciness of the food, and was asked if I like to try it, both the waiter and owner asked what I thought since I love heat in general. For those who have not had it, it is not your hot like a ghost pepper or habernero, but it has a milder heat than most. I love the flavor of it. Price Range: I stated it was around $11 - $30, if you dine in for lunch as I seen on a display on the tables, it is about 9.99 for buffet, but if you dine in for dinner it is about $18. It is a little pricey from another restaurant near us with these types of dishes, but in the end it is well worth it with the food and services.

My husband and I loved our experience at Taj Mahal. The restaurant is small and quiet. Service is excellent. The food is fabulous!!

I ordered something from grubhub, they did not fulfill the complete order properly. I ordered a chapali kabab roll. It said on grubhub that it comes with fries. When I received my order I was not satisfied. I didn't get fries in my order like I was supposed to. Also, the kabob roll was also very, very poorly wrapped. The roll fell apart when I picked it up. In fact it wasn't even wrapped. It was just thrown together. Also instead of giving me a can of soda, he gave me soda from the fountain and it was flat. Don't bother with this place!

I've been here twice. Once like ten years ago and then just a few weeks ago. Service has always been fine. Getting unlimited naan is a perk for sure. The food though is average at best. I'd return only of 1) I'm craving Indian food and I'm in the general vicinity or 2) I'm craving Indian and don't feel like driving out to one of our regular spots.
(2)Ryan R.
I reallllllly wanted to love this place. The server and owner were very nice and attentive. Everything on the buffet looked great, it was clean. Just not a lot of flavor, I mean kinda tasteless, no big pow "I'm eating Indian food, I'm so lucky". I'm really bummed. I wonder if I went on an off day?
(2)Terika K.
Horrible! I went here today for lunch. Haven't been in a couple years and decided to treat myself. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Everything I tasted from the buffet tasted watered down and mushy. I will not return.
(1)Tina R.
We catered food from this place. We enjoyed everything especially the papads which they arranged very nicely. Prompt delivery and the driver was very nice explaining in clear language.
(5)Kim B.
Wish there was a way to give no stars. This place was absolutely horrible. I ordered out chicken makhani. The "chicken" had a weird red color on the outside so I just assumed from the sauce. Cut into the chicken it was gray. Not to mention was sick all day after my few bites. Absolutely disgusted.
(1)Chloe R.
As an Indian, this place is not good. Food is too Americanized. Naan. Daal makhani, masala chai is okay.
(2)S P.
This place is royally terrible! Yelp really needs to have a zero star rating choice. My wife ordered the bhindi masala and I ordered the mixed grilled, I might as well have ordered "meat with a side of BLAND and OVERCOOKED". The seekh kebab was dry and bland not even close to places like Food Street or Banda Nawaz where the meat is full of flavor and how should I say.........edible? The tandoori tilapia? It was fish dipped in orange food coloring and grilled until dry, so dry it needed KY Jelly. The tandoori chicken? I couldn't even cut through the damn thing, it was dry as hell (I got cotton mouth trying to chew it!) and just gave up and asked for the check. I told the waiter what was wrong with the food and what do I see the manager (owner?) do? He walks into the back of the restaurant, god forbid he do something to fix the situation. The waiter comes back saying sorry and of course hands me the check for the entire bill. We get up to leave and I stopped and said "The owner really doesn't care does he?". The waiter just shrugged his shoulders and we left. Hey, at least we got two free mints on the way out..........SCORE!

Dinner with my wife, using Groupon deal. Excellent service (almost warrants 4 star rating) and fairly good food. My wife's mango lassi was exceptionally good. The onion pakora was a nice appetizer, and I could tell it was very fresh. Bindi masala (okra) was smoky and delicious, but a tad too salty. Baghram bharta (eggplant) was slightly better than average. I'd like to come back and try their buffet and their other menu items. Too bad it's in Orland Park.
(3)Amanda H.
The food was good, but the owner (I assume) got an attitude with me when I lifted the top to the buffet and proceeded to serve myself, like most buffet patrons proceed to do. As soon as I picked up the serving spoon, he told me to "leave it in the dish!" It's a bit difficult to serve yourself when you are told to put the serving utensil back in the dish. Perhaps he didn't want me to eat? Also, all reviews seem to leave out the fact that this is a VERY TINY buffet! On a Tuesday afternoon for lunch, they had chicken markhani, beef vindaloo, a salad bar, curried chickpeas, kheer (indian rice pudding), a small salad bar, flat rye bread, various peppers.... and that's it. For $9.50, I expected a lot more variety, and I definitely wouldn't want to come back and pay $13.50 to eat here on the weekend. No lassi, no samosas, no raita, no biryani, no variety, never again!
(2)Julie O.
Finally! I have finally tried the buffet at Taj Majal. Mostly because so many Yelpers like it so much. Guess what? So do I! While the buffet is not huge, it has more than enough offerings to keep me busy. Entrees included a beef, a chicken and a vegetarian. There were many sides and appetizers, salad, as well as Balsamati rice and fresh naan. The awesome carrot dessert is the best dessert ever, and the owner brought us chocolate dipped strawberries with our check - yea!
(5)Jason A.
Sorry Taj, I have to knock you down a star. Our fist visit was great, but this past time the service was unforgivably slow. Granted they were filled to capacity, but their capacity is around 12 tables. We had to track down our server to refill our water, which he forgot to do. I just asked the owner to deliver a pitcher of water so we could refill our own cups, which he did immediately. My mother-in-law ordered coffee, which took over 30 minutes to arrive. The only thing that keeps this place above the 2-star level after our visit is the fact that the owner repeatedly apologized and gave my mother-in-law her dessert for free. Try to go during their non-peak hours, you'll have a much better experience.
(3)Chris D.
I had the buffet. To my surprise it was actually really good. I typically hate buffets but it had all my personal favorites. The staff is extremely nice and even made me my own dish that wasn't on the buffet for no extra charge. I would recommend again.
(4)Ania K.
I was so frustrated that I decided to leave but I still redeemed the groupon (cause my food had arrived) and swore to NEVER go back to a place where the service is so horrible.
(1)Kelly C.
Friendly service by the owners who were very welcoming, despite the fact that we arrived minutes before they would normally close. The buffet was small, but good quality with fresh naan brought piping hot to the table (this really bumped it up in my opinion). I thought the chicken Makhani was very tasty as was the beef dish, however I didn't care for the palak paneer as much. While ambiance is not the restaurant's strong suit, it is authentic. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area again for tasty lunch.
(4)Jai B.
Great! I normally keep a good thing to myself but the food at the Taj Mahal was GREAT. That there was a buffet removed the "I'll just have the tandoorii" and allowed me to have a variety of dishes. This is my new Indi-Paki spot
(5)Tiffany D.
I have been to Taj Mahal several times and my last visit last week and the previous one were disappointing. I think I returned after the last time because I love Indian food and there are a lot of choices in the South Suburbs. I went for the dinner buffet and there were only 5 dishes on the buffet, all of which were cold, leading me to believe that they were leftover from lunch and only barely reheated. The service was fine, but I only ate about a half of plate worth of food at a buffet. Something doesn't add up.
(2)William B.
This is a passable Indian restaurant. The service is good and the food is OK. I wouldn't travel too far to eat here, but if you live in Orland Park it is not a bad option.
(3)M J.
There is no question there is truth in both the positive and negative reviews of this place, and the reality is that this restaurant is pretty hit or miss. Sometimes the food and the service here are quite good, but there are other times that things at this place leave a lot to be desired. I think the basic lesson that folks should take out of the reviews from here is that this place is either going to be either really good or really bad with no happy medium. As a diner what I prize is consistency in terms of food and service, and as a result I just cannot in good conscience recommend this place. As a heads up, this restaurant is in a hard to find location making it easy to miss. It is located directly behind a Midas repair shop, and one would never spot it had it not been for its sign on LaGrange Road. To get to this place make sure one enters through the entrance for the Dania furniture gallery shopping center. The restaurant is on the north side of the Dania furniture building. I think the most important thing to remember about this restaurant is that it is in a southwest suburb, and the clientele here is a lot different than Indian restaurants in Chicago, Schaumburg, and other areas with large Indian populations. The food served here has to reflect its neighboorhood, and it is all right if the curries here are not necessarily the spiciest or if the food can be a bit toned down compared to restaurants that serve a predominantly Indian clientele. With all of that being said the reason why I was not so keen on this restaurant is despite taking into consideration the factors I had listed above I feel the food was not a good representation of Indian food. To be specific, the food was lackluster in taste, and it seemed like there was little or no spices or seasonings used on any of the food. While I am not expecting the food to be super spicy I still would like to have the taste of masala and some kick to the food. It seemed like things were just boiled or fried without any seasoning being added to the item. The buffet here is very limited considering the price that is being charged, and I was disappointed that there was not more selection. It did not help matters that the soda that was served to me was flat which did not help the situation. I will say out of fairness that this place does have excellent naan, and I thought that was the best part of the meal. The service here was all right, but it was tough because the waitstaff was not the most attentive. It was also hard that the waiter did not seem to understand English all that well making it hard to place an order. However, there were some other staff members whose English was fine enabling me to get things done. I will not go so far to say that this place is a dive or that it is to be avoided. It just is not a place to where I would go out of my way especially with the quality of the food being average. Knowing that this part of town does not have much in the way of South Asian food this restaurant would be a good choice for those not wanting to travel into the City. For the price I had paid I did not leave the place feeling satisfied, and I would be reluctant to return considering the other dining options along LaGrange Road. Again, this is not a bad place, but this restaurant is very average. It really is too bad that the owners do not do more to enhance the dining experience because with this being the only Indian restaurant in the area they could have a virtual monopoly on the market.
(2)Amy J.
Delish!! And the owner is SO sweet. I love to get the buffet It's sad this place is so hidden behind other buildings! I think they loss business because you cannot see it from the street.

I normally never complain. My boyfriend and I saw all the great reviews for this place and decided to go. I saw that a lot of people reviewed their lunchtime service. I should mention that we got there a little after 7 P.M. on a Friday night. I made a Yelp account just to warn all of you who read this. There were so many things wrong with this place I do not even know where to begin. We got to our table. We waited at least 10 minutes to have our water poured. The waiter had to refill his pitcher so I waited another 10 minutes to have the rest of my glass filled. We waited at least 15 minutes after that before we decided to go up to the counter and ask for some menus - we only received one after we asked. We waited at least 20 minutes after that before our order was taken. We waited at least another 30 minutes before our food (order completely messed up) was served. The meal I ordered was served in a bowl with the meat and the sauce. No rice, etc. to go with it. So I was left with a bowl of sauce after I had finished. We had to go up to the register (again) to ask to pay the bill. Folks, we were there for over an hour. Just in waiting time. And we only ordered 4 small things. An appetizer which we didn't receive, two entrees, some bread, and a cup of tea (the masala tea, which by the way was not made properly). The servers didn't even recognize what they served us when we asked. The ambiance was awkward. The music was extremely quiet - like someone had turned it inaudible on purpose. The decor was very halfhearted. I could see the look of panic on the employees' faces every time a new customer would walk in. They were not equipped to handle a certain amount of clientele at one time. None of the waiters, save for the young kid, seemed to know what table numbers were which. We were even served someone else's dish before it was swiftly taken away from us without an explanation or an apology. I've had better Indian food. So for any of you who claim this place is the best - you should get out more.

A nice small cozzy restaurant in Orland Park, as others have said the Buffet always has a good selection of GREAT FOOD. Get some sizzling chicken for $1 extra per peice its worth it, but watch out for the HOT wings unless your in the mood for HOT! I have never ordered off the menu because the buffet is that good. PS. If your looking for this place and can't find it just Google Red Lobster in Orland Park and part in Red Lobsters lot and walk 200 feet South to the 1st unit in the Strip Mall next door.
(5)B L.
What a great place! Food to try (my personal favorites): Lassi Mango Chicken Tikka Masala Lamb Vindaloo Gulab Jamin (I probably wrote that wrong) The servers are always so nice. I've gone here since college and have NEVER EVER EVER had a bad meal. So, if you like Indian food, GOOD Indian food and are in the Orland Park area, try this place! It's delicious!
(5)Cory B.
I really enjoy this restaurant. It is as good as most indian food in the city. I have ordered from the menu and had the buffet. I love the saag paneer, aaloo gohbi, and baigan buhrta. The desserts are wonderfully simple and delicious, especially the gulab jamun, semolina halwa and Kheer. The service is better sometimes than others. One of the older gentleman, probably one of the owners, has always been great to us and has even let our young children eat from the buffet for free a few times. I think I will order out from them right now!
(5)Monica V.
A few years ago, my sister introduced me to Indian food up on Devon. It was amazing, of course, so when it came time to introduce the rest of the family to it, she brought us all to Taj Mahal. Ever since then I haven't had to urge to trek miles away, for all my tastes and cravings are always satisfied here! I ususally get the buffet because it's a perfect mix of everything and the flavors are just spicy enough. When I have a craving for a specific dish or want to crank up the heat, I can order off the menu and have enough left for lunch the next day. The waiters always make sure we have enough water in our glasses and enough naan in our basket, and I've never felt rushed to get out of there, which can sometimes be a problem if you are waiting for the check, but I've never been to shy to walk up to the register and ask for it. (Neither should you!) I do, however, have a confession to make. One day a few months ago, my boyfriend and I were feeling adventurous and went to another Indian retaurant down 159th street and the experience made me want to CRY it was so horrible. I never knew Indian food could be so BAD! The next time we came to Taj Mahal, I had to confess my infidelity and the waiter just smiled and laughed and brought me some fresh samosas from the kitchen. I guess you can say this place is kind of like our Cheers. They may not know my name, but they know my order, and they will see my face again and again.
(5)Raj P.
It's a great Indian restaurant with great food comes with great service. They make it your way with their own adding. I love their food too much.
(5)Bobby B.
We have been back here several times, and overall it is always a good experience. We 'tried' to decide to order off the menu, though the alluring items at the buffet have always swayed us to think otherwise. They usually have about three entree dishes at the buffet, and about six side dishes available. Although I have to admit, the fish curry is not my favorite. Everything else is tasty and worth trying!
(5)M H.
Go for the Lunch Buffet. It is extremely affordable, under $10 and it is very tasty. For new Indian eaters there are description cards over each dish. Try the Saag Paneer! The owner/ waiters are extremely attentive and treat their customers very well.
(5)Janice F.
Mother"s Day dinner was great. I had take out and even when I got home after a 35 minute ride my meal was still hot and mango ice cream was cold.
(5)Ryan P.
i am not a huge fan of indian food, but this place is pretty good. the owner(?) isnt exactly mr. personality, but it doesnt take away form the place. byob! updated after 2 years - new employees that are far better suited for the service industry. very nice people. the food is great, and they now have liquor!
(4)Bob D.
A very dismal dinner buffet. I was told the lunch buffet was great, plenty of choices and excellent flavors. Well what the hell is going on at night then. I was not the only one disapointed that night. There was 3 big dudes, looked like they might have played some football at one point, they were apprehensive, having never had Indian food before, they tasted a few things and were not that keen on it, I watched them push food around their plates, all the while I was getting snobbish, thinking those big jocks don't even know what they are eating. I even overheard one of them mention running the fuck out of here and going to Red Lobster! Well the joke was on me, see, the chicken korma was old, real old, the fish curry was funky and not James Brown funky like leftovers funky! The dal dishes were all mealy and really lacking that roundness and mouth feel that I expect in just average Indian food. I had a small taste of everything on the buffet, after I grabbed a big dumpling of some sort, it was the last one left, the guy running the show brought out 2 fresh ones, the cheap prick, waits for me to take the last one. A table of regulars came in and ordered some sizzling 1/2 chicken, it smelled good and it created a bit of a riot, the jocks started asking why they didn't know about the chicken and the owner explained to them, that they never sat down, they just walked up to the buffet and started serving themselves, they then asked the customers if they could try the chicken, it was time for me to leave at this point. If you must eat Indian in Orland Park, order off the menu.
(2)Laura M.
I love this place! I had it bookmarked to try and finally I did. We went for the lunch buffet (9.50 pp) and for each plate you can order chicken tandoori for $1. I ordered three pieces for my son and of course the naan bread. He also had a few items from my plate. It was great. I love being able to eat a diversity of food especially when I'm on a budget. Total bill was $25 for two adults and a kid. Awesome!
(4)Keith L.
Really enjoyed the meal we had here with a living social certificate. The food was excellent. Highlights were the black lentils, the chicken (tandoori with a sauce that my spice-wimp 9-year-old son really liked), and the naan. My two-year-old daughter found plenty to eat as well.
(5)Carrie D.
This is our place for Indian food when we can't and/or do not have time to head north. The people are very nice and the food is always good. I am not a fan of buffets so we always order off the menu. Its reasonably priced and portions are fair. If your in the neighborhood and craving Indian food, I am sure they'd love to have you!
(4)basco t.
hello all , and yes i am a noob at yelp but just had to write a review about this place. WELL, all i have to say is This place is great!! i haven't been here forever because i also thought the food was average but mann!! the food was great and it seemed different then the last time i was here. i did the buffet and my co-worker order two dishes from the menu and couldn't even share with me because it was good. "yeah i called you out Raj" also, it seems like they are going thru some updates on the place and they also have a new owner, we actually talked, very nice guy and seemed like he really cared on my opinion on the food. i cant wait to take my wife out here on a date after its all done. i am definitely coming back for lunch.
(4)Jon P.
Growing up in this area, Taj Mahal is the first Indian restaurant (and for a long time, the only) I was exposed to. As the one and only Indian restaurant in the area, I give it a lot of credit for sticking around and surviving for as long as it has, and I wish it the best of luck in the future. With that disclaimer out of the way, let's get on with this thing... The restaurant is small and tucked into the corner of a strip mall. The interior is a bit plain, but it still manages to be warm and inviting. The best and most endearing part of Taj Mahal is its wait staff/management/owners (possibly all one-in-the-same?). They've given me free rice pudding, they've accommodated very large groups, and they've even left the lunch buffet open for JUST myself and a friend on day. Best of all is that they are always incredibly nice when doing all of this-no attitude, no hassle. Unfortunately, the food at the Taj isn't all that fantastic. Upon recent visits, many dishes seem a bit watered down or tasted a little bland. This wouldn't be such a huge problem if it didn't cost as much as other better Indian restaurants, but it does. Like I said earlier though, great people, so if you are looking for (the only) passable Indian food in the area, definitely give Taj Mahal a go.
(3)Caitlin M.
This place has a tiny buffet, and nothing looked particularly good. My aunt and sister confirmed. Everything was room temperature, also. I ordered off of the menu, and that also was room temperature. We ordered some naan that came out after we had finished eating, but the owner let us have it at no cost, which was nice. I also feel like this place was the cause of how sick I got after I ate there.
(2)Tasha F.
I have lived in the area for over 7 years and will drive 45 minutes to Clarendon Hills for Indian food. I tried them again recently to see if there was an improvement over the years, but it was actually worse and the person covering the floor didn't want to tell me the beverage options or give me a menu. Kitchen of India that recently opened on 159th is better.
(1)Taffy G.
I've been here before, and it was very good, but this last time was just awful. I got there at 1:30, Buffet was old and tasteless, like it was from yesterday. No one in the restaurant when I got there... totally dead. About 5 minutes after I got there, some businessmen sat down with the owner, and talked about advertsing. What he should be concerned about is the food... I won't be back. $9.50 for a lunch buffet??! Only 3 entrees??! ick
(2)Dzifa P.
My family dined here during the buffet hours a few months back. They had a problem with bringing the high chairs for my children so I went and got them myself (I should have left at that moment). The buffet displayed a limited selection, they didn't fill our water glasses although we asked several times. The food was cold, the rice was hard. We let them know that our experience was horrible. They made no effort to make amends....PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY, there are better restaurants elsewhere!
(1)Ro D.
Love the food, regularly get catered food from here for parties. Our family have been customers for 11 years or more. Will "spice" up the food, if you ask for it. Best place on the South Side for Indian food. Every place has it's good and bad days, the Taj Mahal, consistently has more good than bad days. Cheers!
(4)Bill B.
For as small and tucked away as this place is, It is great! You could easily drive by it On La Grange Rd and never know that is exists. However, The food is great. Everything i have ever had here was was very tasty. The Chicken dishes and the Beef "Sausage Like Shapes" (Their words not mine) are always my favorties. I usually go with a friend and we split an app platter. She usually gets the Chicken Boti and it's always beautiful and tasty. My entrees have always satisfied. We usually spend a while talking before and after out meal and are never rushed. The Owners usually serve when we are there, and are always gracious and happy that we return. One day I will try the Buffett. This is also a great starter place for people who have never tried Indian food. The Menu is simple. The food is not overpowering or intimidating.
(4)Annie W.
This is a charming little place that can be a bit hard to find. They have a wonderful menu with top notch service. I went for my birthday with a group and they had the table set up and were so welcoming upon arrival. The Chicken Tikka Masala is awesome! They are also BYOB with no cork fee so with Trader Joe's a block away we were able to grab some wine and really make it an affordable, intimate get together. They also have a fresh buffet in the corner which is great for vegetarians. I'm not a fan of buffet's and I love the food there so I always want to take leftovers home which is why I recommend the menu items. This place is super awesome!
(5)David W.
This is our favorite for Indian food when in the south suburbs of Chicago...well, there doesn't appear to be much competition in a land of every chain and where meat and potatoes rule. For lunch, the buffet can be a nice choice to get a variety of flavors. For dinner, we really liked the lamb kadhai gosht, seekh kabob, saag paneer, and dal makhani. I wanted to try the baigan bharta (wrapped in naan is a winner), but they didn't have any for some reason. The chicken tikka masala was wanting...
(3)Maggie W.
Sadly the only Indian/Pakistani restaurant in the area, but SO DELICIOUS. I used to live off of Devon Ave, so I was sad to leave the haven of Indian/Pakistani food but so happy that Taj Mahal was nearby. We always go for the buffet, which never disappoints. I'll admit I don't know the names of what I'm eating, but everything is yummy! Mostly vegetarian dishes and then chicken and lamb. I love the desserts - something made with carrot and then some kind of fried milk in honey? Who cares what it is, it's yummy. I've always gotten good service without feeling hovered.

Their food is like crack, especially when you can go back for seconds.

Food is great and the masala is my favorite. The guy is also very friendly!

Just had dinner at Taj Mahal and it was my first time. I enjoyed the buffet for ~$16.00. The nann (sp) was hot and other food items were seasoned well. The staff was friendly...oh, thanks for the extra water. It was a little hard to find behind Red Lobster but I'm glad I did. I will be back soon.
